We are seeking a Certified Peer Support specialist

The Peer support Specialist will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as a consumer advocate, providing consumer information and peer support for clients in the Community.

DUTIES :

Works with clients providing hope, encouragement, support, and self-determination. * Provide on-going supportive and/or case management functions in accordance with the problems, needs, and the strategies identified within the service plan in order to help the clients to achieve the stated goals and objectives. * Supporting/assisting consumers in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems. * Assisting clients by finding resources, advising the consumer of processes, and encouraging follow through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or provide other assistance as needed. * Engage client in developing healthy relationships through social activities. * Accompanying clients to meetings and participates in meetings of community groups to advocate for consumer needs, leading recovery dialogues/self-help sessions with clients. * Assisting the consumer with the identifying and effectively responding to or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that result in functional impairments.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate maturity in their own recovery process,
  • have a valid driver’s license
  • have reliable transportation, and
  • have moderate computer skills.

Required license or certification:

  • Must have a Peer Support Specialist certification from the state of North Carolina

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Preferred)
  • NC CPSS
