Recovery Engagement Specialist I - Women’s Campus

Part-Time - Non-Exempt

This position provides support and non-medical detoxification services to individuals who are homeless, uninsured and/or underserved. While on shift, this position helps to ensure the safety of our participants and is responsible for documentation and crisis management.  Availability across all days and shifts is required (7am – 3pm, 3pm – 11pm, 11pm – 7am), including holidays. Part time hours are 16 - 24 hours weekly. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and encouragement to engage participants in the recovery process.
  • Assess and monitor vital signs and the level of withdrawal/intoxication following Healing Transitions’ Detox guidelines.
  • Ensure that participants understand and complete all necessary intake documentation.
  • Continually assess and observe participants regarding medical/psychiatric emergencies and make appropriate referrals.
  • Work closely with other departments regarding issues related to program participants.
  • Work with participants to create appropriate discharge plans and connect them with relevant resources.
  • Perform thorough searches upon intake and ensure that a safe environment is maintained.
  • Coordinate transportation needs for detox and program participants.
  • Communicate thoroughly with other departments, staff, and shifts.
  • Maintain medication counts in adherence with our self-administration policy.
  • Drives Healing Transitions vans and other vehicles as needed. (MVR check for eligibility)

 

Education, Experience and Attributes

  • Must be familiar with Healing Transitions program and be able to engage participants in the recovery process.
  • Decision Making.  Must demonstrate sound judgment and ability to think critically in a fast-paced, constant high stress environment. 
  • Attention to detail.  This position is responsible for documentation which must be thorough and accurate.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.  Individuals must possess effective communication and collaboration skills.  Exchange of information is a crucial component of safe and efficient operation.
  • Flexibility.  Staff in this role must be open-minded and able to respond to the changing needs of guests/participants and the organization.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Certified Peer Support Specialist preferred.
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • If a former participant, at least 6 months in recovery off campus preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay rate for this position is $17.50. Healing Transitions is a living wage organization that offers a unique work environment with opportunities for professional growth.
