Robinson-Flood, Shirley BS, CPSS, QP

Shirley Robinson-Flood joined Cardinal Innovations' Consumer Affairs Team December 1, 2011, as a Consumer Affairs Specialist for Mental Health/Substance Use & Addictions Disorders (MH/SA) in the Five County Community Operations Center in Henderson, NC.
Shirley is and has been very instrumental in assisting individuals to advocate for themselves as well as how to navigate the behavioral healthcare system to insure they receive the right services, treatments and supports tailored to meet their individual needs.
Shirley holds a BS Degree in Business Education and is a State of NC Certified Peer Support Specialist. She served on the NC Peer Support Specialist registry of Certified Peer Support Specialist trainers for 3 years. Additionally, Shirley is a certified facilitator for Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP} trainings and Whole Health Action Management (WHAM) trainings.

As a person in long term sustained recovery, Shirley is committed to sharing what she learned from her own lived experiences to inspire hope in others with similar challenges. She states she sought meaning and purpose in life by connecting from within and outside of self. Shirley's greatest asset is her "faith and belief' system gained through her connection with a higher power. She firmly believes that recovery is possible; it can happen and it will happen, if only one believes. She, therefore, encourages others to "grow where you are planted; the grass isn't greener on the other side; it's greener where you water it."

Shirley's favorite quote is, "It costs nothing for one candle to light another." It is Shirley's hope to continue working to help others in empowerment, self-advocacy and spiritual freedom so we all can "rejoice in the creation of vibrant, unified communities that honor and celebrate diversity, mind freedom, love, peace and the full range of human experience."
