Peer Support Specialist (Practicum)
6-Month Practicum | ~10 hrs/week | $18/hour
Are you a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) ready to build hands-on experience? Arise Collective is offering the opportunity to gain real, supervised experience in peer support work through a new 6-month practicum program.
Working alongside our Care Team with supervision from the Peer Services Manager, you'll apply your CPSS training to provide trauma-informed, culturally competent support to individuals navigating reentry and recovery. This practicum bridges the gap between certification and independent practice — you'll build confidence and hands-on skill through supervised work, gradually taking on more independent responsibility as competence grows.
Responsibilities:
Shadow and assist the Peer Support Specialist in one-on-one and group support settings
Support participants with self-agency, decision-making, and life-skills activities using recovery and trauma-informed tools, under supervision
Assist in facilitating or co-facilitating peer support groups and workshops focused on recovery, self-care, and reintegration
Share lived experience, where appropriate and comfortable, to help reduce stigma around reentry and recovery
Support participants in identifying and engaging in positive, community-based activities
Accompany participants to appointments or community services as assigned, with supervisory approval
Help build bridges between participants and professional service providers
Participate in weekly individual supervision and team meetings

Qualifications:
Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) credential required
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality
Reliable transportation and availability for the practicum's flexible schedule
Physical & Work Requirements: This is a hybrid role involving on-site and community-based work. Requires ordinary ambulatory ability, occasional light lifting (up to 20 lbs), and the ability to travel locally as needed. Reasonable accommodations available.
