Peer Support Specialist

Location: Wake and Durham County | Full-Time or Part-Time

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to provide recovery-based support, encouragement, and advocacy to individuals receiving mental health or substance use services. The Peer Support Specialist uses personal lived experience to build trust, model recovery, and help clients develop skills and supports for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group peer support services.
  • Assist individuals in developing coping skills, wellness plans, and recovery goals.
  • Support engagement in treatment, education, and community resources.
  • Document services in accordance with Medicaid and agency standards.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to ensure person-centered care.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS).
  • Personal lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and committed to helping others succeed.
