Bernice Adjabeng

Dr. Bernice Adjabeng is the Director of the North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work, where she provides strategic leadership and oversight for program implementation, including credentialing, training, partner engagement, and evaluation. She joined UNC–Chapel Hill in 2014 after working in Missouri and has remained deeply committed to strengthening and supporting North Carolina’s peer support workforce. Dr. Adjabeng holds a Doctor of Management from Webster University and dual master’s degrees in social work and nonprofit management from Washington University in St. Louis. With more than 20 years of experience in direct practice, community development, program evaluation, leadership, and organizational management, she grounds her work in collaboration, service, and a passion for recovery-oriented care systems. In addition to her program leadership, she has served as an adjunct faculty member at UNC–Chapel Hill, Elon University, and North Carolina Central University. Outside of work, Dr. Adjabeng enjoys spending time with her family.
