Nathan J. Plummer serves as an Online Training Specialist with the Peer Support Program at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work. He joined Behavioral Health Springboard in 2020 as a course developer and joined the Peer Support Program in 2025.
Nathan has more than a decade of experience in the mental health hospital field, where he served in roles including mental health worker, floor supervisor, and medical chart auditor. He also led peer performance reviews, working with multidisciplinary teams to develop action plans that supported staff growth and quality care. His background gives him a unique perspective on the needs of behavioral health professionals and the importance of practical, accessible education.
Nathan earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a dual major in Psychology and Film Studies. He is A+ certified and has taught himself HTML5 and Photoshop, blending technical, creative, and behavioral health expertise in his work. Through his role, Nathan supports the development and delivery of online learning experiences that strengthen peer support training across North Carolina.
