Position Summary
Capital Assisted Services is seeking compassionate and motivated Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) to join our team. The CPSS uses their lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery to provide support, encouragement, advocacy, and mentorship to individuals working toward their own recovery goals. This position plays a vital role in promoting hope, self-determination, and community integration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide peer support services to individuals receiving behavioral health and/or substance use treatment services.
- Share personal recovery experiences appropriately to inspire hope and promote recovery.
- Assist individuals in developing and achieving recovery-oriented goals.
- Facilitate peer support groups and recovery-focused activities.
- Connect individuals with community resources, housing, employment, education, and social supports.
- Advocate for individuals' rights and preferences within treatment and service systems.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency and state requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training opportunities.
- Promote a culture of respect, empowerment, and person-centered care.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Personal lived experience with mental health challenges, substance use recovery, or both, and a willingness to use that experience to support others in recovery.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or community-based services.
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care.
- Experience facilitating groups and community outreach activities.
