A fast growing Behavioral Health Agency serving Orange and Chatham County has immediate openings for Male Certified Peer Support Specialists in the CHATHAM COUNTY area ONLY.
Preference to candidates that physically resides within 15 - 20 miles of the Chatham County area.
The Peer Support Specialist provide individualized, recovery-focused support to persons that promotes the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping and self-advocacy skills, and the development of independent living skills for housing, employment and full community inclusion. This is a community-based service and employment.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist clients with self-determination and decision-making
Teach functional skills (managing meds, finances, health care, resources, daily living, etc.).
Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal action to encourage wellness
Teach and promote self-advocacy and empower clients to use their legal rights
Provide linkage to community resources
Participate in team meetings
Maintain and submit required documentation (treatment plans, service notes, etc.)
Able to meet weekly quotas
Attend weekly staff meeting/supervision
Provide transportation support
Applicants must be:
Must be flexible and be able to work various shifts as assigned.
NC Certified Peer Specialists with reliable transportation.
Individuals who have the life experience of being diagnosed with a serious mental illness or substance use disorder.
Well established in their own recovery.
Currently in recovery and are stable within their recovery for an extended period of time up to two (2) years or more.
Have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Ability to participate in community outreach.
A valid driver's license and willing to use your personal vehicle for work.
Previous experiences working as a Peer Support Specialist in a community setting is preferred but not required.
