We have immediate openings for Certified Peer Support Specialists in the Orange and Chatham County area.   We have 3-5 open positions for IMMEDIATE HIRE!!!!

The Peer Support Specialist provide individualized, recovery-focused support to persons that promotes the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping and self-advocacy skills, and the development of independent living skills for housing, employment and full community inclusion.  This is a community-based service and community-based employment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with self-determination and decision-making
  • Teach functional skills (managing meds, finances, health care, resources, daily living, etc.).
  • Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal action to encourage wellness
  • Teach and promote self-advocacy and empower clients to use their legal rights
  • Provide linkage to community resources
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Maintain and submit required documentation (treatment plans, service notes, etc.)
  • Able to meet weekly quotas
  • Attend weekly/monthly staff meeting/supervision
  • Provide limited transportation support 

Applicants must be:

  • Must be flexible and be able to work various shifts as assigned.
  • NC Certified Peer Specialists with reliable transportation.
  • Individuals who have the life experience of being diagnosed with a serious mental illness or substance use disorder.
  • Well established in their own recovery.
  • Currently in recovery and are stable within their recovery for an extended period of time up to two (2) years or more.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Ability to participate in community outreach.
  • MUST have a valid driver's license and willing to use your personal vehicle for work.
  • Previous experiences working as a Peer Support Specialist in a community setting is preferred but not required.
