Peer Support Services are a community-based service for adults age eighteen and older who have a mental illness or a substance use disorder.
A Certified Peer Support Specialist uses their lived experience to provide peer support services to persons with mental health diagnoses and/or substance use disorders.
Our Peer Support Specialists:

Practice and model self-care
-
Promote socialization, achieving goals, recovery, self-sufficiency, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, safety and maintenance of skills learned

Appropriately document progress in a timely manner

Act as a role model to persons in recovery to inspire hope, share life experiences and lessons learned as a person in recovery, model recovery process and demonstrate coping skills, engage individuals who may be at risk and provide stage-appropriate recovery education and supports

Responsible for providing opportunities for individuals receiving services to direct their own recovery process while assisting to develop of a sense of wellness and self-worth

Attend regular staff meetings and other required meetings, conveying observations and key issues to supervisors on an ongoing basis
