As a Peer Support Specialist at Beacon Bridge, you will use your personal recovery journey from mental health and/or substance use challenges to support and assist clients on an individual basis. This role involves providing direct peer support, advocacy, and collaborating closely with the clinical team to improve client outcomes in the selected county of operation within North Carolina.
*Must have a min. of 2 years of verifiable experience and all trainings complete prior to onboarding and be a QP.

Key Responsibilities:
- Peer Support:
- Provide one-on-one support, sharing your own recovery experience to inspire hope and offer encouragement.
- Assist clients in developing personalized recovery goals and action plans tailored to their unique needs.
- Client Advocacy:
- Advocate for clients' preferences within the treatment team.
- Empower clients to self-advocate and access essential community resources.
- Resource Navigation:
- Help clients identify and connect with community resources like housing, employment, education, and healthcare.
- Provide information and referrals to appropriate services.
- Documentation, Reporting and Integrity:
- Maintain accurate, timely records of client interactions and progress.
- Report any significant changes in client status to the clinical team.
- Clock in and out for every peer support session rendered in our HR App. We have over 65 peer support specialists across the state so it is something that we require all our direct support professionals to do.
- Team Collaboration:
- Participate in case reviews, staff meetings, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to support integrated care and comprehensive treatment planning.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing training to maintain certification and enhance your skills.
- Stay informed on best practices in peer support and recovery.

Qualifications:
- Lived Experience:
- Personal experience with mental health challenges and/or substance use disorder and sustained recovery.
- Ability to share recovery experiences in a way that supports and inspires others.
- Certification and Training:
- North Carolina Peer Support Specialist certification.
- Completion of relevant peer support training.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to client care.
- Ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality.
- Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work within the county of your choice in North Carolina.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
