Our agency provides community-based behavioral health and recovery services, including an NC Medicaid-approved SAIOP program. We believe lived experience is essential in supporting recovery and empowering individuals with substance use challenges.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our SAIOP treatment team. The CPSS will provide peer-based recovery support, co-facilitate groups, and help participants strengthen skills for sobriety, wellness, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Share lived experience of recovery to instill hope and support participants in their recovery journey.
  • Co-facilitate SAIOP group sessions alongside clinical staff, focusing on peer-based support, relapse prevention, and recovery skills.
  • Provide one-on-one peer mentoring and coaching outside of group sessions.
  • Assist participants with connecting to community resources (housing, employment, support groups).
  • Support individuals in developing recovery-oriented coping skills and relapse prevention plans.
  • Document peer support activities in compliance with Medicaid and agency standards.
  • Promote recovery values, ethics, and professional boundaries.

Qualifications

  • Current North Carolina CPSS certification in good standing.
  • Personal lived experience in recovery from substance use and/or mental health challenges.
  • Understanding of SAIOP program requirements and recovery principles.
  • Strong communication, boundary-setting, and teamwork skills.
  • Valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation.
