Harris, Dollie M.

My name is Dollie M. Harris. I am a Certified Peer Support Specialist and I love interacting with people.  I have a passion for assisting Veterans and non-Veterans. I have been have been exposed to verbal abuse, drug abuse, and I have had very bad low self-esteem, and PTSD. You don’t always have to be the user to be affected. I was also deployed in a combat Zone on several occasions but the last one was the worst.

I have a MBA in Human Resources and I have a BS in Multi-Disciplinary Studies with (Psychology Secondary).  I retired from the military with over 24 years of service.

I am currently employed as a Program Support Assistant with the Traumatic Brain Injury Program. Previously I volunteered at a Youth Detention Facility and now I volunteer through my Church organization with the inmates at Hoke Correctional Institution once a month. I am so thankful for learning about the Peer Support Program. It gave me a different perspective. It was a great outlet for me especially knowing that there was someone out there that I could relate to that I was going through. I love gathering resources and sharing them with other veterans especially when it is something that they are dealing with. After being able to overcome trials in my life I am dedicated to helping others with their recovery process.
