JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose/Role
The ARC FREE Peer Support Specialist is dedicated to collaboration with community organizations across Polk, McDowell, Rutherford, and Cleveland counties. This role involves closely partnering with the coordinator to identify existing community organizations that offer peer support services and facilitate connections within the recovery ecosystem established by the Foothills Recovery and Employment Ecosystem (FREE) model. They will focus on collaboration and inclusivity, bridging gaps between employers and individuals in recovery. This approach fosters supportive work environments and benefits communities. This position will not solely provide direct peer support services, but will be supporting current peer support specialists within the ecosystem.
Responsibilities/Tasks
● Participate in community cohort meetings as needed within the four target counties. ● Help inform policy and protocol changes for this position and program, from a lived-experience perspective (as requested)
● Timely navigation and handling of traditional system-gap hurdles with partnered organizations.
● Provide community health care system navigation.
● Provide legal and behavioral health system navigation.
● Assist individual with applications for benefits, housing, and other Social Determinants of Health
● Provide community health resource education internally and externally as requested. ● Maintain integrity and upkeep of all files and requested data tracking protocols.
● PSS will continue to nurture current relationships with each partnered organization while initiating new connections.
● Assist the ARC FREE Coordinator with technical support i.e. PowerPoint presentations, informational brochures/flyers, implementation monitoring and evaluation tools/surveys.
● Maintenance of community resource directories/data.

Requirements:
● Maintain healthy self-care and work balance.
● Maintain peer support certification with North Carolina and all required CEU hours needed for recertification.
● Abide by PSS Code of Ethics
● Possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license and proper registration and insurance on personal vehicle.
