Monarch NC, a provider of high-quality and trauma-informed care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance use disorders, is seeking a dedicated Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment team in Charlotte, NC.
As a Peer Support Specialist, you will provide individualized services in the community and promote individual self-determination and decision-making. You will provide essential expertise and consultation to the staff to promote a culture in which each individual’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help. You will also participate in comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history (onset, course, and effect of illness, past treatment and responses, risk behaviors, and accomplishments), mental status, and diagnosis; physical health and dental health; use of drugs and alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living (self-care, living situation, nutrition, money management); and family structure and relationships of the people we serve.
To qualify, candidates must have the following:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Candidates must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist for the state of North Carolina (CPSS). Please do not apply unless you are fully certified.
- At least 2 years of experience working with adults who have a mental health diagnosis and/or a substance use disorder.
- A valid Driver's License is also required.
