Status message

Effective April 1, the NCCPSS Program will transition to an ONLINE-ONLY APPLICATION PROCESS. Certification and recertification applications must be submitted using the ONLINE portal. Mailed (paper) applications will not be accepted. We encourage all applicants to create an account first and access the online application now to help avoid application processing delays. Monarch NC, a provider of high-quality and trauma-informed care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance use disorders, is seeking a dedicated Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our Transitional Management Services team in Winston Salem, NC. 

 

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will support people in achieving their personal goals while helping them in the development of their natural supports, coping skills and self-management skills. You will utilize personal experience with mental health or substance abuse issues to assist others in achieving desired outcomes.  You will also emphasize personal safety, self-worth, confidence, growth, connection to the community, boundary setting, planning, self-advocacy, personal fulfillment, development of social supports, the helper principle, and effective communication skills to the people we serve.

 

To qualify, candidates must have the following: 

 

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist for the state of North Carolina (CPSS).
  • At least 2 years of experience working with adults with a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis.
