Cherry Hospital A Place of Hope, Care, and Recovery
Cherry Hospital’s Hope & Wellness Center (HWC) uses the “treatment mall” model of service delivery. The treatment mall is a centralized programming area away from each patient’s hospital residential unit where recovery-oriented treatment and rehabilitative services are made accessible to all of the facility’s adult patient population (geriatric, adult acute, independence transition) in an integrated program design. Ultimately, the vast majority of adult patients from throughout the hospital receive services at the Hope & Wellness Center. HWC programming offerings include, but are not limited to, psychotherapy and educational groups, skill building groups, individual counseling services, peer support services, work therapy, and special activities. All patients and staff re-locate to this centralized programming area as do all patient services such as meals, snacks, medication administration, nursing care, medical treatments, charting, and treatment team meetings.
This position is responsible for the administration and supervision of the Peer Support Specialists that are part of the Peer Support Program at the hospital. This position will oversee the Peer Support Program and the day-to-day responsibilities of the Peer Support Staff. This position is also responsible for direct patient services such as facilitating groups including Peer Support classes within the treatment mall program. It also provides 1:1 peer support interventions for individual patients as requested by the treatment team. The individual in this position serves as a member of the hospital’s Hope & Wellness Center Design Team and a variety of other hospital committees and work groups as needed.
