Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to individuals seeking recovery from mental health or substance use disorders.
  • Facilitate group sessions that promote sharing experiences and strategies for coping and recovery.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to help clients set and achieve personal goals.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills necessary for successful community integration.
  • Collaborate with behavioral health systems to ensure clients receive comprehensive care.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and management when necessary, ensuring client safety and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and any incidents as required by agency policies.
  • Advocate for clients' needs within the healthcare system, including access to resources and services.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) certification.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year in personal recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
