TITLE:

Group Lead

PURPOSE:

To facilitate discussion during weekly psycho-educational groups for peers seeking recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare and present on a relevant topic each week in accordance with the established curriculum.

2. Facilitate discussion and encourage mutual self-help exchanges of suggestions, experiences & support.

3. Engage clients and encourage continued attendance, recovery success, and use of program tools.

4. Complete weekly progress reports, monthly assessments, and other documentation, all to be submitted to the Program Manager.

5. Notify Management Team of any special needs or concerns regarding peer, disruptive client behavior during group or continued abusive behavior, etc to ensure these needs or concerns are adequately and appropriately addressed.

6. Collaborate with staff to outreach in the community and raise awareness about the issue of mental health/ addiction and the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be at least 21 years of age.

2. Must have personal lived experience with mental health and/or addiction issues and been in recovery for at least 1.5 years.

3. Experience and enthusiasm for working with and supporting individuals and their families.

4. Strong communication skills.

5. Excellent group facilitation skills.

6. Strong knowledge of the recovery process.

7. Able to commit to the program on an ongoing, weekly basis for at least one year.

Groups are held Monday-Thursday 

Job Types: Volunteer

Schedule:

  • 10 hrs. weekly/flexible
