Position Overview
We are seeking a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) who is also a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS). This dual role blends professional clinical skills with lived experience, providing a unique and powerful support system for the individuals we serve.
The QMHP/CPSS will deliver direct behavioral health interventions, facilitate recovery-oriented peer support, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, culturally competent care that aligns with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) and Medicaid standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive mental health services.
- Conduct intake assessments, develop Person-Centered/Recovery Plans, and deliver therapeutic interventions.
- Facilitate peer-based recovery support by drawing on lived experience to build trust and model hope.
- Support individuals in developing coping skills, self-advocacy, and community resource connections.
- Monitor progress, document services in compliance with Medicaid and DHHS requirements, and ensure timely charting.
- Collaborate with families, community partners, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
- Participate in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and ongoing safety planning as needed.
- Uphold peer support values, ethics, and professional boundaries at all times.
Qualifications
Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP):
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, or related field.
- Must meet NC DHHS requirements for Qualified Professionals.
- Experience providing behavioral health services (minimum 1–2 years preferred).
- Experience with Person Centered Plan experience and trained.
- Person Centered Thinking and Elements training.
Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS):
- Must hold a current NC CPSS certification in good standing.
- Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery and ability to share experiences appropriately.
- Strong knowledge of recovery principles, person-centered practices, and peer support ethics.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background check and other state checks.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
