The North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist Program, in collaboration with the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services, is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity designed to strengthen the peer support workforce across the state.
As part of North Carolina’s ongoing commitment to recovery-oriented and person-centered care, the NCCPSS Program is seeking proposals for the development of two new specialty training courses:
- Justice-Involved Peer Support
- Crisis Response in Peer Support
These specialty courses are designed to equip Certified Peer Support Specialists with advanced skills and knowledge to better serve individuals navigating complex life experiences, particularly those impacted by the criminal justice system and those experiencing behavioral health crises.
By expanding the scope of peer support training, this initiative will enhance the capacity of the peer workforce to provide compassionate, informed, and practical support in various high-need settings. Whether working in jails, reentry programs, emergency departments, or mobile crisis teams, peer support specialists with specialized training will be better prepared to foster hope, resilience, and recovery.
This effort reflects North Carolina’s broader strategy to enhance access to high-quality, peer-led services and promote long-term recovery outcomes for individuals throughout the state.
