Research Community Care is a structured, compliance-driven behavioral health organization providing Peer Support Services to adults enrolled in Medicaid Tailored Plan and waiver services across North Carolina. We operate with clear policies, defined roles, consistent supervision, and audit-ready documentation standards.

We are seeking high-performing Peer Support Specialists who value professionalism, accountability, and meaningful recovery work within an organized, team-based system.

Position Overview

Peer Support Specialists provide recovery-oriented, community-based services using lived experience to support individuals in achieving stability, independence, and improved quality of life.

Peers work within structured schedules, defined service expectations, and established documentation standards, while collaborating closely with supervisors and care teams.


Core Responsibilities

  • Provide scheduled, one-on-one peer support services in approved community settings throughout Wake County
  • Support members with recovery goals, coping skills, daily living skills, and self-advocacy
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and Medicaid-compliant service documentation
  • Adhere to agency policies, service definitions, and productivity expectations
  • Participate in required supervision, training, and quality improvement activities
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, care managers, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards

Required Qualifications

  • NC Certified Peer Support Specialist OR Peer Support Trainee actively pursuing certification
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Wake County
  • Ability to meet background check and credentialing requirements
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing peer support or community-based services
  • Familiarity with Medicaid Tailored Plans, or managed care environments
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently within structured systems

Compensation Structure

Full-Time Peer Support Specialist

  • Annual salary range: $38,000 – $44,000 per year, based on experience, certification status, and performance
  • Full-time status is defined by meeting organizational productivity and service delivery standards
  • Salary is paid on a regular payroll schedule and is not tied to individual client billing
  • Includes structured supervision, training, and compliance oversight

This salaried structure supports consistency, accountability, and professional growth.


Part-Time Peer Support Specialist

  • Hourly rate: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour, based on experience and certification status
  • Flexible scheduling aligned with caseload needs
  • Compensation applies to approved service hours and required activities per agency policy
