Status message

Effective April 1, the NCCPSS Program will transition to an ONLINE-ONLY APPLICATION PROCESS. Certification and recertification applications must be submitted using the ONLINE portal. Mailed (paper) applications will not be accepted. We encourage all applicants to create an account first and access the online application now to help avoid application processing delays. We are a CARF accredited behavioral health agency and we are expanding and looking for great people to join our team! Immediate NEED!!!

The Peer Support Specialist provide individualized, recovery-focused support to persons that promotes the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping and self-advocacy skills, and the development of independent living skills for housing, employment and full community inclusion. This role can be performed in-person, and/or hybrid.

We have immediate openings for Certified Peer Support Specialists in ALL 100 counties in North Carolina

We also have openings for individuals that has available members to bring with them to join our agency.

Applicant MUST be CERTIFIED in the State of North Carolina as a Peer Support Specialist!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with self-determination and decision-making
  • Teach functional skills (managing meds, finances, health care, resources, daily living, etc.).
  • Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal action to encourage wellness
  • Teach and promote self-advocacy and empower clients to use their legal rights
  • Provide linkage to community resources
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Maintain and submit required documentation (treatment plans, service notes, etc.)
  • Able to meet weekly quotas
  • Attend weekly staff meeting/supervision
  • Provide transportation support

Applicants must be:

  • MUST be CERTIFIED as a PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST
  • Must be flexible and be able to work various shifts as assigned.
  • NC Certified Peer Specialists with reliable transportation.
  • Individuals who have the life experience of being diagnosed with a serious mental illness or substance use disorder.
  • Well established in their own recovery.
  • Currently in recovery and are stable within their recovery for an extended period of time up to two (2) years or more.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Ability to participate in community outreach.
  • MUST have a valid driver's license and willing to use your personal vehicle for work.
  • Previous experiences working as a Peer Support Specialist in a community setting is preferred but not required.
