Status message

Effective April 1, the NCCPSS Program will transition to an ONLINE-ONLY APPLICATION PROCESS. Certification and recertification applications must be submitted using the ONLINE portal. Mailed (paper) applications will not be accepted. We encourage all applicants to create an account first and access the online application now to help avoid application processing delays. Certified Peer Support Specialist

Position Summary:  The Community Support Team Peer Support Specialist must have at least one year of experience with adult mental health consumers. A Peer Support Specialist must be in recovery and have completed the certification. These professionals are responsible for assisting the Team Leader with the coordination of services across all levels of care, participating in the treatment team process, and psycho education and skill development.

 

Position Requirements:

  • One year experience working with target population
  • High School Diploma
  • Certified in the state of NC as a Peer Support Specialist
  • No substantiated findings of abuse or neglect listed on the North Carolina Health Care

Personnel Registry or Central Registry

  • First Aid, CPR, Blood borne Pathogens
  • NCI/CPI part A
  • Additional required trainings for the position per NCDHHS Clinical Coverage Policy for Community Support Team Services

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides psychoeducation as indicated in the PCP
  • Assists with crisis interventions
  • Assists the Team Lead with behavioral and substance use disorder interventions
  • Assists with the development of relapse prevention and disease management strategies
  • Participates in the initial development, implementation, and ongoing revision of the PCP
  • Communicates the individual’s progress and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions to the Team Lead as outlined in the PCP
