Certified Peer Support Specialist - Wake County - Full Time

As a Certified Peer Support Specialist on our Wake County team, you will provide your assigned caseload individualized, strengths focused, community-based services for the purpose of promoting the development of wellness, self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping skills, and self-advocacy skills. You will guide them in the development of independent living skills for housing, employment, and full community inclusion.
We empower our Peer Support Specialists to utilize their personal experiences with mental health and/or substance to connect, teach, model, and support the development of skills for ongoing treatment and recovery.
We provide mileage reimbursement & offer a Peer Support Scholarship Program to cover certification costs!
Schedule
Flexible - 40 hours per week.
Pay
Starting pay is $18.00 per hour.

Full-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date. Options for a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. 10 paid holidays and PTO hours which accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months employees are eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. Company paid life insurance, short and long term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and additional pay for working holidays. SouthLight provides mileage reimbursement. SouthLight is an approved employer for the Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
Responsibilities of a Certified Peer Support Specialist
• Assist clients with self-determination and decision-making
• Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal action to encourage wellness
• Teach and promote self-advocacy and wellness management
• Provide linkage to community resources
• Maintain and submit documentation (treatment plans, WRAP, service notes, service auth requests)
Qualifications of a Certified Peer Support Specialist
Education and Experience
- HS diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 18 years old
- Min of 1 year working with the adult MH/SA population preferred
Licensure/Certifications
- Active Certification in NC as Peer Support Specialist
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, Blood borne Pathogens training, and CPI

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of county resources and opportunities
- Great "people skills" and an ability to make lasting community connections
- Ability to monitor large groups of individuals in flexible space to ensure safety and access
- HIPPA and Substance Abuse specific confidentiality and privacy rights
