Peer Support Services are a community-based service for adults age eighteen and older who have a mental illness or a substance use disorder.

Responsibilities and Duties

EMS MIH Peer Support Specialist

The Forsyth County Department of Emergency Services is seeking to hire a Peer Support Specialist. In the role of a peer support professional with the mobile integrated healthcare division of Forsyth County Emergency medical services you will get the opportunity to connect with clients who are experiencing crisis that involve both behavioral health and substance abuse issues. You will work as a connector for these clients and help advocate for them to receive services and supports that specifically address any unmet needs they may have.

Nexus Recovery Support Community Peer Staff

Purpose:  

 This is a peer community based support role for those desiring support as they seek a life free from drug or alcohol dependence OR if they are not ready to cease using these but want a safe and positive space to connect with support and health resources.  The Nexus program is a component of GreenTree Peer Support Program in Winston-Salem. Role objectives include:

  1. To provide genuine, non-judgmental welcome to all comers in a safe, trauma-sensitive social setting
