Peer Support Services are a community-based service for adults age eighteen and older who have a mental illness or a substance use disorder.

A Certified Peer Support Specialist uses their lived experience to provide peer support services to persons with mental health diagnoses and/or substance use disorders.

A Peer SupportSpecialist is a person who has walked the path of recovery from mental illness and is employed to assist others in their journeys of recovery. Peer Support Specialist Duties and Responsibilities In order to provide support to patients based on personal experience, a Peer Support Specialist performs many different tasks.
