Job Description: Provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes individual self-determination and decision-making to individuals with Mental Health or Substance Abuse issues. Certified Peer Support Specialists also provide essential expertise and consultation to the entire team to promote a culture in which each individual’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. This position may serve as an advocate for the person supported. Performs a wide range of tasks to assist the people supported in regaining control over their own recovery processes. These interventions are strength-based and focused on promoting recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and achievement of the highest level of functioning in the community. Functions as a role model of competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills.
Position: Certified Peer Support Specialists at Global Vision Support Services, LLC will utilize their personal lived recovery experience to assist and support clients on a one-on-one basis. Your role will involve advocacy for your client, direct peer support, and working closely with the clinical team to enhance client outcomes. We are specifically looking to service the following areas Wayne County, Pitt County, Lenoir County, Duplin County, Wilson County, Rocky Mount, Nash County, Greene County, Sampson County, Johnston County and Beaufort County for Full-time or Part-time Certified Peer Support Specialists.
Key Responsibilities for Peer Support Specialist:
- Provide one-on-one peer support to clients.
- Peer Support Specialists will share their personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and offer encouragement.
- Assist clients in developing their own tailor-made recovery goals that will address their specific needs and circumstances.
- Assist clients with identifying and connecting with community resources, such as housing, employment, educational opportunities, and healthcare services.
- Assist clients with information and referrals about appropriate services.
- Modeling effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals
- Providing empowerment skills and support in successful recovery living
- Assisting individuals in finding resources, advising of processes, and encouraging follow through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or provide other assistance as needed
- Leading peer support groups with individuals served
- Supporting/assisting individuals in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems
- Facilitating social opportunities in the community
- Fostering development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities
- Sharing personal stories of recovery and resilience to instill hope
Documentation and Reporting:
- Must maintain timely and accurate Progress Notes of client interactions.
- Report any significant changes in client status to the QP and the clinical team.
- Attend and document treatment team meetings.
Certification/Training and Personal Development:
- Certification as a North Carolina Peer Support Specialist.
- Completion of relevant peer support training programs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training to maintain certification and enhance skills.
- Stay informed about current best practices in peer support and recovery.
- Experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues preferred

- Display strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Have the ability to display patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to client care.
- Ability to share lived experiences with clients to assist them in their recovery.
- Ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license, driver’s insurance and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work within the chosen counties that agency serves.
- Ability to pass a background check.

Based on Experience
