North Carolina does not accept other State's Peer Support Certification. For a mail submission, please study and follow the certification application process below:

Military Designation

Eligibility

North Carolina has created a designation for CPSS with the name Military Designation for those with military experience.  Eligibility requirements for this designation include the following:

  • Meeting requirements for PSS certification
  • Having current or previous military service

Process

  • Submission of a copy of a DD 214 form or Military ID

For new NCCPSS applicants or currently Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) interested in the Military Designation:

  • Submission of NCCPSS certification application & necessary documents
  • Submission of a copy of a DD 214 form or Military ID

Maintaining Designation (Recertification)

  • 12 hours of human service, mental health, and/or substance use training at the time of recertification.
  • 8 hours of military-specific training
