Cottage Health Care Services has immediate openings for Peer Support Specialist to work in the Raleigh Area. These specialists support adults with struggles pertaining to mental health, psychological trauma or substance use. The Peer Support Specialist works in the community with adult MH/SA clients to teach, model and support the skills and coping mechanisms for ongoing treatment and recovery.

 

Applicants must be:

NC Certified Peer Specialists with reliable transportation.

Flexible and be able to work various shifts as assigned.

Individuals who have the life experience or have been diagnosed with a substance use or mental health disorder.

Well established in their own recovery.

Additionally applicants must:

Have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.

Have the ability to participate in community outreach.

Have a valid driver's license and willing to use your personal vehicle for work.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure that services are delivered in accordance with fidelity peer support model ethics and values.

• Assist persons served by providing assistance with: 

  • wellness self-management
  • personal recovery
  • natural supports
  • coping skills
  • self-advocacy skills and development of independent living skills for housing, employment and full community inclusion

• Actively facilitate successful peer support meetings and wellness classes at the office or in the community, as assigned.

• Provide psychoeducation to address the needs identified in the Person Centered Plan

• Provide input in to the persons served Person Centered Plan modifications

• Support the persons served in understanding and exercising their rights.

• Attend and participate in treatment team meetings, audits, and committees as requested.

Documentation

Complete all service documentation including but not limited to the following: service 

notes, incident reports, etc. on the appropriate form and in a thorough and timely 

manner, as required by State, Federal, rules, statutes, agency policy and procedure and agency service operation manuals.
