Position Title: Reintegration Support Network LEAD MENTOR
Salary: $19.00/hour, 15-20 Hrs/week, Contract
Main Point of Contact: Mentor Program Manager/Dir. of Ops and Programs
Start Date: September 1, 2023
Travel/Special Conditions/Requirements: This position prefers identification as a person in long-term recovery, current NCCPSS or Recovery Coach certification or other peer support credentials. Must have evening and weekend availability and a minimum commitment of up to 15 hours per week. Must be able to perform job duties in Chatham, Durham and Orange county.
Qualifications:

Person age 18+

Willing and able to self-identify as:

a person who currently identifies as a person in active recovery (2 year +) pertaining to substance use, mental health challenges and, or justice system involvement AND/OR
-
At least 2 years experience working with youth/emerging adults AND/OR
-
Recovery Coach and/or NCCPSS credentials preferred

High school diploma/GED
-
Strong communication and organization skills
-
Computer proficiency (Google Workspace applications and Zoom)

Supervisory experience preferred

Knowledge of and connections to community resources within our service areas

Valid driver’s license and auto insurance as well as reliable transportation

Ability to pass screening requirements and background check(s)

General Summary:
The RSN Lead Mentor will provide support and resources for youth and emerging adults who are experiencing challenges related to substance use, mental health, and/or justice involvement. The Lead Mentor will act as a liaison with other youth-serving organizations, provide both formal and informal mentoring as well as act in the capacity of Lead Facilitator for Life Skills groups in the areas we serve. In addition the Lead Mentor will support the Mentor Program Manager with onboarding, training and supervision of mentors.
Key Activities:

Complete all required training to enhance skills and meet mentor program participant guidelines as required by the program.

Actively engage as part of the RSN support team to meet participant goals, complete all required documentation and paperwork.

Provide education to our community about the culture and perspective of youth participants.

Promote a stance of acceptance while reducing stigma about substance use, mental health, justice system involvement.

Empower the participant to build understanding in others about their situation and unique needs focusing on goals as specified in the participants’ Individual Service Plans and Participant Centered Plans.

Be the Lead Facilitator for Life Skills groups hosted in our service areas

Provide outreach to other youth serving organizations in the community.

Provide skill building support to other RSN mentors in collaboration with the Mentor Program Manager.

Develop and co-facilitate monthly mentor meetings in collaboration with the Mentor Program Manager.
