Description:

RHA Health Services Deaf & Hard of Hearing program provides a unique tailored certified training program that specializes specifically in training Deaf and Deaf-Blind persons to become Certified Peer Support Specialist. This training is innovative and is the leading Certification Training Program for the Deaf & Deaf-Blind in North Carolina and surrounding states. This training was designed to meet the needs of a disadvantaged population suffering from substance use disorders and mental illness. The RHA Deaf & Hard of Hearing program witnesses the barriers to services accessibility and limited support and community resources daily. This Certification Training Program is designed to empower, equip, and give hope in the lives of those we serve. This two-week training program is designed to meet the needs of a diverse class with varying communication needs: sign language interpreters, CART services, and Deaf-Blind interpreting & Haptics services. The classroom environment is safe, supportive, and fun. All instructors are approved by the State of North Carolina as Certified Peer Support Specialists, completed instructor training through RHA Train the Trainor Program and are fluent in American Sign Language.
