Purpose: The peer support specialist must be certified as a NC peer support specialist (NC CPSS). CPSS is responsible for ensuring recovery focused service that allows individuals the opportunity to learn to manage their own recovery and advocacy process through interventions of Peer Support staff that enhance the development of natural supports, as well as coping and self management skills.

PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST! PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST SUPERVISORS! LCAS, CSAC, LCAS-A & CSAC-A

Peer Support Services are a community-based service for adults age eighteen and older who have a mental illness or a substance use disorder.

A Certified Peer Support Specialist uses their lived experience to provide peer support services to persons with mental health diagnoses and/or substance use disorders.

Peer SupportSpecialists strive to empower individuals to achieve their hopes, dreams, and goals, and connect them with their personal recovery journey. A Peer SupportSpecialist is a person who has walked the path of recovery from mental illness and is employed to assist others in their journeys of recovery.
