The Job

Carteret County Government’s Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) is seeking to fill a Certified Peer Support Specialist role.  Do you have a desire to assist in the prevention of overdose fatalities in the community?  Are you a compassionate & professional individual who has experience in community service and working with families in crisis?  Then, a Certified Peer Support Specialist position may be the role for you!

Peer Support Specialist

The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) is a key member of our team at Love and Respect Community for Recovery and Wellness, a Peer Support-run recovery community organization. This Peer Support Specialist role offers a fulfilling opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals on their recovery journeys.

This role involves providing support, encouragement, and mentorship to individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges. The Peer Support Specialist will engage with individuals using lived experience and offer guidance toward recovery and wellness.

Peer Support QP

Certified Peer Support Specialist who is also a Qualified Professional to work 1/2 time as QP and 1/2 time as Peer Support Specialist.  Will meet with clients, complete Person Centered Plans, match clients with available Peers and supervise their work with clients.  This person will also provide peer support for 2-4 clients.  Salaried position $40-45K annually and has a benefit package.  This position serves both Carteret and Craven counties. Bachelors degree plus experience required.

NC Certified Peer Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Support Specialists to join our team. As a Certified Peer Support Specialist, you will provide support and guidance to individuals with mental health challenges, utilizing your own lived experience to inspire hope and promote recovery. You must have reliable transportation. Your role will involve assisting clients in navigating the mental health system, providing counseling, and offering mentorship to help them achieve their goals. Certified Peer Support Specialist / CPSS

Job Description: Provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes individual self-determination and decision-making to individuals with Mental Health or Substance Abuse issues.  Certified Peer Support Specialists also provide essential expertise and consultation to the entire team to promote a culture in which each individual’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation , and community self-help activities.
