The mission of the New Second Chance Peer Support Specialist Training Curriculum is to empower those individuals that are actively seeking to become a North Carolina Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS). The training will equip participants with the training skill set, and motivation to utilize there own recovery experiences with enhanced training tools to assist peers to live a meaningful and healthy independent lifestyle in the least restrictive environment.
Description
The Second Chance Training Academy provides a comprehensive hands on classroom style 50-hour training program designed for those individuals interested in actively serving as a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS). A North Carolina CPSS is anyone interested in promoting recovery by removing barriers and obstacles to recovery and serving as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking or maintaining recovery. The training course will provide participants with the necessary tools and resources that are most useful in providing recovery support services. The New Second Chance peer training meets the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services requirements. The training course prepares participants for immediate employment opportunities as a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist. The training course is focused on real life experiences, evidence-based studies, personal wellness, and an uncompromising NCCPSS Code of Ethics guidelines.
