Specific tasks include but are not limited to providing recovery-based support, self-help strategies, housing resource referrals, social skill-building, and community participation.

Certified Peer Support Specialist

CPSS to serve as a Care Management Extender.  Care Management is a service that coordinates both the physical and mental health/substance use care of individuals with Medicaid.  This position may be part time or full time depending on the applicants needs and the needs of the agency.  Salary is $18 per hour.  The Extender will work hand in hand with the Care Manager to support individuals in the following ways:

JOB SUMMARY:

Certified Peer Support Specialist

Peer Support services are structured and scheduled activities for adults aged 18 and older with MH/SA disability. Peer Supports are provided by Peer Support Staff. Peer Support service is an individualized, recovery focused approach that promotes the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping skills, and self-advocacy skills and development of independent living skills for housing, employment and full community inclusion.

Peer Support Specialist

Certified Peer Support Specialist to work either as a community based worker, working 1:1 with individuals with mental health or substance abuse struggles OR as part of the care management team working to address both the clients mental health and physical health struggles.  Positions may begin as part time but can become full time with benefits.  Please submit resume or letter of interest to lindamcdonald@lechris.com.  Needing individuals in Carteret, Craven, Pitt and Edgecombe/Nash areas.  $16-$19 per hour.

  • The Peer Support Specialist exemplifies recovery principles in order to show by example that recovery is possible and attainable. The Peer Specialist shares their personal recovery story when appropriate, and walks the road of recovery alongside the service recipient.

  • Educate and advocate for the values and principles of the Recovery Model.

  • Work to increase level of cultural sensitivity, awareness and competency regarding Person-Centered and Peer-Delivered Services.

Certified Peer Support Specialist

• Ability to collaborate with the program QP to assess their own strengths and areas of growth and develop a supervision plan.

• Ability to collaborate with an individual to explore and identify barriers to accessing community resources or treatment providers.

• Ability to model and mentor recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal actions to encourage wellness and resilience for individuals served and to promote a recovery environment in the community, residence, and workplace.
