Peer Tenancy Services Certified Peer Support Specialist - Full Time

As our Peer Tenancy Specialist, you will provide individualized, community-based interactions with assigned caseload for the purpose of promoting the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping skills, and self-advocacy skills. Peer Tenancy focuses on assisting our clients in developing independent living skills for housing, employment, and full community inclusion.

This position serves the Wake, Johnston, Durham, and Orange county communities. We provide mileage reimbursement!

If you meet the criteria by having personal, lived experience with mental health and/or substance use but are not yet certified, we can assist you with the costs of training through our Peer Support Scholarship program!

 

Pay

Starting pay is $18.00 per hour.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

Full-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date. Options for a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. 10 paid holidays and PTO hours which accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months employees are eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. Company paid life insurance, short and long term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and additional pay for working holidays. SouthLight provides mileage reimbursement.

 

Job Responsibilities of a Peer Tenancy Services Peer Support Specialist

  • Promotes independent living skills through modeling, feedback, support to individuals around housing needs
  • Assist clients with self-determination and decision-making
  • Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal action to encourage wellness
  • Teach and promote self-advocacy and wellness management
  • Provide linkage to community resources
  • Maintain and submit required documentation (treatment plans, WRAP, service notes, service authorization requests)

 

Qualifications of a Peer Tenancy Services Peer Support Specialist

  • Current Peer Support Certification (we can work with you if you are not yet certified)
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • HS diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year working with the adult Mental Health/Substance Use population, preferably in a community setting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequent change in work flow based on client need and service structure
