The Peer Support Specialist provide individualized, recovery-focused support to persons that promotes the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping and self-advocacy skills, and the development of independent living skills for housing, employment and full community inclusion. This is a community-based service and community-based employment.

Peer Support Qualified Professional to help lead a team of certified peers and individual support workers. The QP is responsible for meeting with members to assist in getting them into services, writing Person Centered Plans, matching the member with a peer support staff and supervising the staff to ensure the success of the program. 4 year college degree plus experience in the human service field is required.

Positions may begin as part time but can become full time quickly. Certified Peer Support Specialist to work either as a community based worker, working 1:1 with individuals with mental health or substance abuse struggles OR as part of the care management team working to address both the clients mental health and physical health struggles. CPSS to work part-time in home and community setting in New Bern or Morehead City areas. This is not an office based position. The CPPS works 1:1 with individuals to develop wellness plans, provide advocacy training, assist with vocational and educational goals, assist in developing household maintenance skills, assist in building natural supports, teach coping skills for depression, anxiety, anger, etc. The CPPS position could possibly become full time if the employee is interested. $15-19 per hour. The Peer Support Specialist exemplifies recovery principles in order to show by example that recovery is possible and attainable. The Peer Specialist shares their personal recovery story when appropriate, and walks the road of recovery alongside the service recipient.
